Review of The Amber Room

In Steve Berry’s The Amber Room, Paul and Rachel Cutler are divorced. But when Rachel’s dad is murdered due to historical research on the Russian Amber Room, they band together to find the killers. However, the hunt proves harder and more deadly than they anticipate. Will they find the  exquisite contents of the room which have been missing since the end of World War II? Or will they be another casualty in search of the treasure that may not exist at all?

The Amber Room is brimming with potential. The hunt for high stakes and the historic background promises a riveting plot full of twists and turns. However, it is hard to root for characters who lack empathy, display lewd behavior, and have foul mouths. The language is so distracting and detrimental that it is hard to keep interested in the story itself. Therefore, I cannot recommend The Amber Room.
